Brainerd City’s Safety & Public Works council voted Dec. 16 to adopt the city's Transit Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) policy plan, a routine federal requirement the city updates and approves annually.
Public Works staff said the federal government periodically updates ADA guidance and that staff member Crystal will review the plan for any substantive changes. Staff also noted the plan must be approved before the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) deadline (the 18th of the month); TAC will have the opportunity to review the plan in Q1 if it meets then. Council moved, seconded and approved the policy by voice vote.
Staff framed the action as a required annual approval rather than a substantive policy change; staff said they did not expect major changes but will follow up with TAC and bring any recommended adjustments forward next year.
