Public hearing set for Brookwood Lane subdivision after resident petition

At its Dec. 16 meeting the New Canaan Inland Wetlands Commission voted to hold a public hearing on Jan. 27, 2025 for application 82 Brookwood Lane, submitted by Brookwood Hills LLC, for common infrastructure to support a proposed nine-lot residential subdivision. Staff reported the commission received a petition from more than 25 residents requesting a hearing under Section 11 of the town’s Inland Wetland Regulations.

Commission staff described the proposed regulated activities as conversion and expansion of an existing driveway, installation of stormwater best management practices, power/communication utilities, a dry hydrant, and wetland and watercourse mitigation. Because a public hearing must ordinarily occur within 65 days of filing, the commission said it would request an extension from the applicant to allow the hearing to be scheduled on Jan. 27. Staff told the commission it had spoken with the applicant’s counsel, Attorney Zabitakis, who indicated the applicant would be willing to grant an extension if the hearing were set for Jan. 27.

The commission voted to schedule the public hearing; the Chair announced the vote was unanimous. The hearing will allow residents to speak and for the commission to consider the environmental and engineering details of the proposed subdivision before taking any permit action.
