Applicant David Ruchi and homeowners Chris and Danielle Link presented renderings showing a 1931 house and a proposed family-room addition of about 552 sq ft. The applicants agreed at the hearing to plant a screening buffer and said they would work with the town to select plant species and sizes.
Commission discussion focused on whether to specify an exact number of trees or to allow the town planner discretion to require a continuous row of screening consistent with the size suggested by the applicant. Commissioners agreed to a condition requiring a continuous row of ‘green giant’ or equivalent evergreen screening along the eastern retaining wall, subject to town-planner approval.
A neighbor raised stormwater concerns for the nearby drainage area; applicants said they had retained civil engineering consultants (McCord Engineering) and that a drainage plan with underground galleries had been reviewed by the town engineer under the updated drainage policy. Staff noted any plantings in the rear near wetlands would be subject to wetlands permit approval.
The commission’s motion to approve, including the screening condition, passed on a roll-call vote.
