Utilities Commission adopts bimonthly 2025 meeting schedule; approves Nov. 19 minutes

The Utilities Commission of the Town of New Canaan voted unanimously on Dec. 17 to adopt a bimonthly meeting schedule for 2025 and approved the Nov. 19, 2024 minutes.

The commission agreed the regular meetings will be held the second week of each bimonthly cycle on Thursdays at 7 p.m., beginning Feb. 13, 2025. Unidentified Speaker 1 moved to adopt the schedule and the motion was seconded; the voice vote was unanimous. "So it's unanimous," said Unidentified Speaker 2 after the vote.

The commission also approved the minutes from its Nov. 19, 2024 meeting without discussion. Unidentified Speaker 1 moved to approve the minutes; the commission voted in the affirmative on a voice vote.

Commissioners discussed meeting cadence options earlier in the session, including monthly, bimonthly and quarterly schedules, and noted the group can call special meetings or cancel regularly scheduled meetings if workload requires. The commission favored moving to the second week to avoid conflicts with the town council’s schedule and school vacations.

The action items from the meeting record that the schedule will be posted and that staff will reserve meeting space; no additional formal budgetary authorization was taken in connection with the schedule vote.

The meeting ended with routine commissioner reports and an adjournment vote.
