She said she has bought fans for teachers and provided receipts for warranty and replacement purposes, and expressed concern that teachers are no longer allowed to bring such items.
Steve Conner, president of the Wayne Westland Education Association, said teachers “do not have control of their heating and air conditioning in their rooms,” and that the problem persists despite a recent bond project. He said the union will continue to press the district for solutions.
Board members acknowledged the concern and said facilities and property committees are discussing building needs. No formal district action was recorded in the meeting minutes; parents and union leaders urged the board to prioritize repairs and to clarify which staff can request or control HVAC fixes.
The board did not set a vote or specific timeline for repairs during the meeting; speakers asked administrators to return with options and timelines.
