Livonia board appoints Larissa Burke as Webster principal and Joseph Shively as Riley assistant principal

The motion to appoint Burke was made by Mister Johnson and supported by Missus Jarvis; Missus Acosta conducted the roll call and the motion carried with recorded 'Yes' votes from the board.
Burke addressed the board and audience after the vote, thanking the board and district colleagues and saying she was "so excited to start this new journey" at Webster. She referenced her long LPS history and family in attendance.
The board also approved the appointment of Joseph (Joe) Shively as assistant principal at Riley Upper Elementary School. Keith described Shively's decade of classroom experience in South Lyon Community Schools, interim administrative and special-education summer-school responsibilities and a background in using technology and formative assessment data. The motion to appoint Shively was moved by Missus Burton, supported by Missus Acosta, and passed unanimously. Shively thanked the board and said he was "so excited to learn from" Principal Wenstrom and to serve the Riley community.
Both appointments were greeted by brief remarks from board members praising the candidates' qualifications and fit. The hires were celebrated at the meeting with honorees and family members invited to come forward for congratulations.
What happens next: Both appointments are effective per the superintendent's recommendation; no further board action was recorded in the transcript. The district will proceed with onboarding the new principal and assistant principal.
