Board office's term-end report: agenda items surge, new agenda system planned

Richardson told commissioners the current term saw a sharp increase in work: "Last term you considered 844 agenda items. This term you had a 75% increase with almost 1500," she said. She added that contracts rose about 17% and budget amendments rose 37% versus the prior term.
The presentation summarized programmatic outreach (including Student Government Day, Volunteer recognition, Veteran of the Year, town halls and community events), noted staff experience (citing combined years of public service), and described an updated organizational chart. Richardson said the office is piloting a constituent-management tool (IQ) and aims to implement a new agenda management system by spring to improve workflow.
Commissioners thanked Richardson for the report; the board moved to receive and file the report by recorded vote (12 to 0). Richardson's remarks emphasized better communication, staff training and the desire to keep ordinances under a scheduled review process.
