Jackson County board fills advisory boards and planning seats in routine votes

At its Dec. 17 meeting the Jackson County Board of Commissioners confirmed a slate of appointments to advisory boards and planning commissions, including Tom Davis to the airport board, Russ Jennings and Mary Walcott to planning-related seats, and several parks, library and material-management committee appointments.
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners confirmed multiple appointments to county advisory boards and regional planning seats during routine committee reports and votes at the Dec. 17 meeting.
Vice Chairman Commissioner Kennedy reported committee recommendations and the board took voice votes to appoint Tom Davis as the airport public member and to confirm Russ Jennings and others to Jackson County Planning Commission seats. Mary Walcott was reappointed as the planning commission environmental representative; Christie/Christy Davis (city council representative) was nominated and carried in voice vote.
General government committee nominations heard later in the meeting included Sarah Leitner to the Jackson County Fair Board, Mike Way to the library board of trustees, Kevin Lavery to the Parks and Recreation Board, Patrick O'Dowd to the Land Bank Authority construction representative seat, and Andy Grimes and Charles Woodburn to material management planning committee positions. Each nomination was moved, supported and approved by voice vote.
Most appointments were committee recommendations and carried without recorded opposition. Commissioners noted the need for some applicants to submit formal BoardDocs paperwork where missing and encouraged timely filings for January appointments.
The appointments conclude the boards’ routine end-of-year staffing for advisory positions and prepare committees for work in 2025.
