Eaton County Board honors retiring deputy, approves grants and routine resolutions

The board read and passed a resolution honoring Dennis Gerber, noting his retirement effective Nov. 18, 2024 and citing 25 years of service dating to Nov. 15, 1999. Family members and county colleagues attended the recognition. A board member said, "Congratulations," and the resolution was approved by voice vote.
The board also passed a resolution authorizing an MOU with Delta Township to provide a shared alternative emergency operations center for use if the county’s primary EOC becomes inoperable; the MOU term discussed was five years.
Commissioners approved a resolution proclaiming November as Family Court Awareness Month in Eaton County; the proclamation’s text cited national and state statistics about harms to children in custody-related contexts and referenced a recent Michigan case included in the resolution text.
Public Works and Planning moved and the board approved an application for a Housing Readiness Incentive Grant Program and adopted several committee appointments recommended by Ways and Means.
