Mayor Rick Stoffer presented the mayor’s corporate award of excellence to Frito-Lay’s Irving plant, citing more than 50 years in the community and recent expansion investments. Laura Maxwell, senior vice president of supply chain at PepsiCo Foods North America, accepted the award and said the Irving plant has been an anchor since 1967.
Maxwell credited the Irving workforce for production and community support, noting the Irving facility manufactures brands such as Cheetos, Doritos and Lay's. She said the site had invested in recent years to expand production and thanked the city for the recognition.
Speakers and a video presentation highlighted economic figures the city attributed to partnership work: roughly 5.8 million square feet of leased commercial space, $435,000,000 in capital investment and more than 11,000 direct jobs from recent attraction and retention efforts; city narration and speakers cited specific relocations and expansions, including Uline (1,200 jobs), Microsoft (575 new jobs and a $31,000,000 investment), Abbott (retaining 800 jobs and adding 200) and HelloFresh’s large US center.
City and chamber leaders framed these results as evidence of Irving’s continued strength as a headquarters and logistics hub near DFW Airport.
