The proclamation read by a council speaker cited the nonprofit’s work since its founding in December 2006 and noted formal accreditation as a 501(c)(3) in August 2014. It praised initiatives including back-to-school supply giveaways, disaster relief drives and the annual toy distribution, and thanked the nonprofit "for its partnership, dedication, and commitment to being the light for so many children and families this holiday season." The proclamation text named Mayor Michael j Glaze and Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley in offering the city’s gratitude.
A representative of the nonprofit told the council the group had over 1,300 formal registrations for the event and, "as the mayor stated, we served probably over 1,800 children," and thanked the city, volunteers and partner organizations for helping accommodate demand. The representative said partnerships with the City of Kenner, the Kenner Police and Fire departments and Toys for Tots made the distribution a success.
The council paused for photographs and brief remarks after presenting the proclamation. No formal council action relating to funding or contracts for the nonprofit was recorded on the agenda.
