Council approves slate of appointments, Plan Commission recommendations and several event and liquor-license requests
Summary
The council unanimously approved mayoral appointments to boards and commissions, four Plan Commission recommendations including a Wingstop conditional use permit, and eight Government Affairs committee items such as fireworks and temporary alcohol permits and two new retail liquor licenses.
At its Sept. 24 meeting the Common Council approved a series of routine and recommended items in single votes.
Appointments: The mayor’s slate included reappointments and student-member appointments to the Youth Commission, a reappointment to the Historic Preservation Commission, appointments to the Sustainability Committee and the Bicycle & Pedestrian Facilities Committee. Alder Wilkie disclosed a familial relationship for one student appointment (Olivia Wilkie) and said the city attorney advised there was no conflict; the council then approved the full slate unanimously.
Plan Commission: Council considered four Plan Commission recommendations: a conditional use permit for a Wingstop eating establishment at 6933 W. North Ave (applicant Joanna Domagala Kulbrick), a two-unit house at 7433 Blanchard St, an adult daycare at 1215 Dewey Ave (applicant listed as representing Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin) and a certified survey map for a land division at 11135 W. Burley St. Each item carried a 5–0 recommendation from the Plan Commission and the council approved them in a consolidated vote.
Government Affairs items: The council approved eight items recommended 5–0 by the Government Affairs Committee including a fireworks permit for Wisconsin Lutheran College homecoming (Hollywood Pyrotechnics Inc.), temporary extensions of alcohol service for several Oktoberfest/Folktoberfest events, an appointment of a successor agent for a restaurant liquor license, and new retail liquor licenses (Mex Ave Tosa LLC and Fortune Wisconsin BBA Empire Fish). These passed in a single motion and voice vote.
