Meridian resident raises scheduling-bias concerns over HomeCourt bookings

At the Dec. 3 public forum, Travis Clyde identified himself as a founder and board member of Exceeding Excellence Education Foundation and Idaho Sports Academy and said his organization sought to reserve Meridian HomeCourt for a Jan. 2–4 tournament in September but later found HomeCourt had scheduled a different group for Jan. 2–5.
Clyde said he asked Parks and Recreation for an explanation and was told there is a scheduling policy that allows an organization that has booked its home-court facility to move its event within a six-week window before or after the originally scheduled date, creating a three-month window in which a booking may shift. "If the facility was booked, then our name was put on a waiting list," Clyde said, and he said he has not received a copy of the policy and could not find it online.
He told council he and his organization felt the Parks and Rec and HomeCourt South demonstrated bias against them and asked the council to provide a copy of whatever scheduling policy governs such moves. "This is why I come tonight to hopes of some kind of resolution or change," Clyde said. The council did not take action on the matter at the meeting; staff did not provide policy text during the public forum and the matter was recorded for council consideration.
