Trumbull County OKs ARPA grants to Warren Family Mission and Community Legal Aid

The Trumbull County Board of Commissioners voted Nov. 13 to award two one-time grants funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars: $50,000 to Warren Family Mission to install air conditioning in its facility and $50,000 to Community Legal Aid Services, Inc. to assist with salaries at its Warren office.
The board moved and approved the measures during its regular meeting. Commissioners recorded unanimous support on the items that were presented with motions and seconding votes. The agreement documents and allocations were described on the agenda and were entered into the record by the commissioners.
Dominic Maury, identified in the meeting as executive director of Warren Family Mission, spoke after the board approved a grant and the county presented a ceremonial check. He said the mission lacks air conditioning and sometimes must close during extreme heat, calling the award “a lead gift into Operation Cool Down” and outlining services the mission provides over the holidays, including a Thanksgiving meal program expected to feed more than 2,500 people and a toy distribution for more than 400 families. "At the Warren Family Mission, we do not have air conditioners ... during the summer, it gets very hot there," Maury said.
County officials also approved and signed an agreement with Community Legal Aid Services to allocate $50,000 to support personnel at the Warren office; staff from that organization were not present for a check presentation and commissioners said they would arrange a presentation at a later date.
Clerks confirmed the awards are ARPA-funded and handled through agreements reviewed by ARPA legal counsel. The board recorded the approvals in the meeting minutes; no further conditions or sunset dates were specified on the agenda materials presented at the meeting.
Next steps recorded by the board include execution of the agreements and scheduling any ceremonial presentations for Community Legal Aid Services when its representatives are available.
