The Trumbull County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 17, 2024, approved a slate of routine motions and a series of American Rescue Plan Act-funded contracts and grants covering roadwork, emergency communications, and community services.

The board dispensed with reading the Oct. 16 workshop and Oct. 17 regular meeting minutes and approved video recordings as the official record, then moved on to consent items including approval of bills, transfers of monies and additional appropriations.

Among the items adopted by voice vote or roll call were: awarding a road contract to Carvo Companies, Inc. for the Township Highway 185 C Bushnell Campbell Road project in the amount of $324,875.75 and approving payment of $30,000 to DLZ Ohio Inc. for a Levittsburg Dam desktop study; authorization to advertise bids for the Trumbull County Fairgrounds 4‑H building replacement; acceptance of maintenance bond Q86‑6370258 from Erie Insurance for seven sanitary lateral connections ($51,400); and approval to advertise an RFP for PY23 CDBG revolving loan fund packages for Helen Scope Center improvements.

Emergency‑services and communications upgrades approved included authorizing purchase of five VESTA command posts from AT&T for $129,800 (ARPA funds), and accepting Motorola Solutions Inc. proposals for technological upgrades — $232,933 for two MCC 75100e operator positions and $354,000 for four MCC 75100e remote operator positions with ACS and implementation (both funded from ARPA as listed).

The board also approved smaller vehicle and equipment purchases for county departments, including two used Ram 1500 Tradesman pickup trucks for the Sanitary Engineers department ($23,175 and $24,900). A VOCA/SVAA grant renewal for the county victim/witness division covering Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025, was authorized for execution by the board president.

Several personnel, appointment and permit items were approved, including the reappointment of attorney Laura Berzonski to the Trumbull County Local Corrections Planning Board and the reappointment of Eric Fink to the NEOCAP governing board.
