Facing incomplete union contract negotiations that left key warrant items unsettled, the Board of Selectmen on Nov. 12 voted unanimously to cancel the special town meeting scheduled for Dec. 3 and to reschedule a meeting after the holidays, likely in mid-January.
The chair explained the decision was to ensure the finance committee could properly hold its required public hearing and that outstanding contract terms for two unions be finalized before town meeting. Selectman Sweeney moved to cancel and reschedule; the motion was seconded and the board recorded unanimous ayes.
The board asked staff to coordinate with the town clerk to identify a January date and to keep the public informed once a date is set.
