Cook County Board adopts FY2025 executive budget after vote; reconsideration motion fails

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved the executive budget recommendation for fiscal year 2025 (Item 245641) on Nov. 21, voting 17-0 in favor after permitting remote participation and a roll call.

The approval came after the Finance Committee's recommendation that the board "concur with the recommendation of the Finance Committee that item 245641, the executive budget recommendation for fiscal year 2025 be approved as amended," which a member moved and another seconded. The Board subsequently voted to allow remote participation for any commissioner not in the chamber before proceeding to the budget roll call.

The presiding officer framed the budget as balanced and delivered without layoffs, tax increases or cuts to vital public services.
