On Oct. 30 the Clermont County Board of Commissioners proclaimed Nov. 11–15, 2024 as Veterans Awareness Week and designated an Operation Greenlight recognition; the county will light buildings green to raise awareness of veterans’ services.
The Clermont County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 30 presented proclamations designating Nov. 11–15, 2024 as Veterans Awareness Week and endorsing Operation Greenlight, a local recognition encouraging green lights to honor service members and raise visibility for veteran services.
Board President David Painter read the proclamation and noted the county annually lights government buildings in green during Veterans Week to draw attention to the Veterans Service Office and the services it provides to veterans and their families. Steve Belso, introduced by the board as a sergeant major and director of the county Veterans Service Office, accepted the proclamation and thanked the board.
Commissioners said the lighting and other observances are intended to prompt veterans who may not otherwise seek services to reach out to the county VSO. The board invited veterans and residents to attend observances and ceremonies during the week and to participate in community events marking the county’s recognition.
