Clermont County authorizes public vehicle auction and appoints interim chief dog warden

Commissioners approved three added agenda items at the Sept. 11 meeting, including authorization for a county vehicle auction and personnel actions related to the county kennel.
Staff recommended that certain county vehicles be declared surplus and sold at public auction and presented a contract for auction services with David Lewis, doing business as Lewis Auctioneering LLC of Batavia. The contract authorizes advertising a public auction for Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the rear parking lot of the Clermont County Municipal Court, 4430 State Route 222, Batavia. Staff estimated "25 to 30" vehicles available for sale; the board approved the contract and advertising by roll call.
On personnel actions, staff presented a temporary job change and appointment for Anthony Woolery as interim chief dog warden effective Sept. 11, 2024 and asked the board to ratify the appointment under Section 955.12 of the Ohio Revised Code and chapter 955 statutory requirements for administration of dogs. The board deferred designation briefly but ultimately moved, seconded and approved the appointment and ratification by roll call.
The board adjourned after brief member comments, including praise for Harsha Lake signage and local suicide‑prevention outreach.
