The board signed the proclamation naming David L. Painter as president, Claire Corcoran as vice president and Bonnie Bachelor as a member.
The sheriff accepted the proclamation and offered brief remarks about where he was when the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks occurred. Recalling the morning, he said, "that's one of those events in life that you just never forget," and urged continued remembrance of the victims and gratitude for first responders.
The commissioners took a group photograph with attending public‑safety personnel and invited residents to observe ceremonies and memorials on the anniversary. The meeting then moved to its regular agenda items and votes.
