Blackstone moves recycling center payments online with Unipay; town plans phased cash transition

The Town of Blackstone plans to let residents pay recycling fees online or at the gate after the Board of Selectmen reviewed a demonstration of Unipay on Oct. 22. Collector/treasurer staff described a cart-style online system and an on-site tablet that attendants can use to verify prepayments.
Town officials said the system will let residents add multiple items to a cart (for example, TVs, mattresses and bulky items), pay by e-check, credit card or on-site swipe, and present a printed or phone receipt at the recycling entrance.
