Blackstone senior-center board hears update on new activities hire, programs and fundraisers

The Town of Blackstone senior-center council met Oct. 3 and accepted the minutes before hearing an extended director's report on new staff, programs and events.
Senior Center Director reported that the center's new nutrition and activities coordinator, Kim Coffey, started on Monday and brings experience from Maples in Wrentham and certification as an activities coordinator. "She's a wonderful girl with a pleasant disposition, a lot of energy, a lot of ideas, and a good skill set," the Director said, and invited members to introduce themselves downstairs after the meeting.
The director described several new and returning offerings: beginner and intermediate line-dancing classes (averaging about five to six participants), a tap-dancing class (about five attendees so far), a Christmas choir led by Kayla, and a radio-theater performance set for Monday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. The center will move that performance downstairs because Oct. 21 is a voting day for the main meeting room.
