The board voted to encumber $5,365 from the LIGMEG account to cover potential shortfalls for staff-supported Cultural Council grant applications. Director Lisa Cheever said staff submitted a number of cultural council applications totaling $5,365 and sought board authorization to cover any unmet amounts. Kelly Gillis moved to encumber the full $5,365; Jean Alexandowitz seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
Separately, trustees approved $300 from the LIGMEG account to help the library’s Santa parade float with accessories and hand warmers; the request was made by assistant director Tracy and was approved by voice vote.
Director reports: staff gave monthly program and circulation updates. Highlights included Hoopla usage, nearly 4,785 circulations reported for October (figure excluded Oct. 31), successful children’s Halloween events, and ongoing outreach at Blackstone Millville Regional High School that added two new patrons. Building maintenance notes included a reported estimate of $779 to replace a heating-related switch and completion of concrete pads for two storage sheds.
What happens next: The director will monitor grant award notices and release encumbrances if reimbursements are received; the trustees will continue routine oversight of event funding and facility projects.
