The Town of Blackstone Disability Commission held a reorganization and elected Sarah as chair and a vice chair by voice vote. The meeting opened with confirmation of present members Sarah, Eva and Tanya and noted absentees Joan and Nicole; one member’s status (Brian) remained uncertain.
Commissioners opened nominations because prior terms had expired and several new appointees were not present. Sarah was nominated for chair and accepted; members registered their approval by voice. The chair then opened nominations for vice chair; the nominee accepted and commissioners approved that nomination as well.
Beyond leadership, members discussed administrative needs: the absence of formal minutes for prior meetings, whether to secure a recording secretary and the lack of a dedicated line in the town budget. Commissioners agreed to consider asking for a budget allocation for a secretary or meeting support in next year’s budgeting cycle and to confirm required meeting frequency with the state.
The commission concluded routine business and moved on to substantive items on accessibility and parks.
