Trustees authorize $385 for youth Pathfinder program and $500 for adult paint nights

The Blackstone Board of Library Trustees on Sept. 9 authorized small program expenditures from the library's LigMEG (gift/grant) funds to support youth and adult programming.
Trustees voted to allocate $385 to fund a weekly Pathfinder program for young adults (11 sessions, Nov.–Jan.). The request was presented by the young-adult librarian and supported by the director; a motion to authorize the amount from LigMEG was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Separately, the board approved $500 from LigMEG to fund two paint-night sessions to be held Jan. 16 and Jan. 21, 2025. The director said paint nights draw strong interest and the funding would pay an instructor; trustees agreed to fund two sessions to accommodate demand.
Cheever also updated trustees on several program highlights: the children's summer-reading finale had 28 children in attendance; young-adult programming included a coppersmithing workshop funded by the Cultural Council; and Hoopla and other digital services showed steady usage (Hoopla recorded 175 uses in August). The board was told that 4,403 items circulated over the counter in August.
Trustees flagged no objections to the program expenditures and asked the director to observe LSTA spending timing and keep the board apprised of program attendance and budget impacts.
