Committee approves park extensions and Namasket Hill invoice; asks for more detail on late funding requests

The Community Preservation Committee took several park- and cemetery-related actions at its Dec. 18 meeting.
Wood Street: The parks department asked to use a small remaining balance to purchase batting-cage netting and install a stockade fence at the end of Old Wood Street. The committee approved an extension to June 30 to allow installation in warmer months and to let the parks department finish required work.
Westside Lacrosse field: Committee members approved a one-year extension for the remaining engineering balance so final plans can be revised to meet conservation order-of-conditions and proceed to bidding and construction in spring/summer, as conditions are satisfied.
Late park request: Parks submitted a same-day letter requesting an additional $27,000 for Wood Street fencing; the committee agreed this would likely require a separate warrant article for the April town meeting and asked that Parks present more detail at the January meeting.
Namasket Hill Cemetery invoice: Committee members reviewed an invoice for interior work at Namasket Hill Cemetery and unanimously approved reimbursement; members asked the cemetery group to propose a public opening/celebration date in the spring.
Next steps: Parks to provide additional details on the $27,000 request at the January meeting; liaisons will continue to track engineering milestones and provide reports.
