Community Preservation Committee extends Homestead lead-remediation grant to June 30
Summary
The Committee unanimously approved a June 30 extension for a FY23 $25,000 grant to complete lead remediation at a Homestead property after a stop-work order and contractor-certification issues delayed the project; the committee requested Board of Health sign-off and a site visit before final reimbursement.

The Community Preservation Committee unanimously approved an extension to June 30 for an FY23 $25,000 grant to a Homestead remediation project, the committee said at its Dec. 18 meeting.
Committee members heard that work stalled after a stop-work order tied to lead paint and because the contractor originally hired did not hold the full certificate needed for the remediation. An applicant said the select board approved Murphy’s Painting and Powerwashing to begin final remediation and cleanup, and the Board of Health will inspect and, if satisfied, send a letter clearing the site to the select board.
The committee said it would like evidence that the Board of Health has signed off, a site visit to review completed work and final invoices before releasing remaining funds. The motion to extend the grant to June 30 passed unanimously.
Next steps: the applicant will coordinate the health-agent sign-off and notify the committee when the work is complete so the committee can schedule a site visit and process reimbursement.
