At its meeting, the Town of Babylon Rental Board reviewed a series of permit renewals and new applications and granted extensions or approvals conditional on repairs, debris removal, fence replacement and driveway work.
Board members repeatedly asked property owners to remove debris, replace broken sidewalk pieces and aprons, repair fences, and remove unregistered vehicles. For properties where driveways must be replaced, the board required owners to notify the town when the driveway is dug up so inspectors can document the work before replacement.
Examples of actions taken: the board extended the deadline to April 30 for repairs at 780 Conklin Street in East Farmingdale; extended 12 Surrey Drive in Amityville to April 30 for driveway, apron and fence repairs; extended 14 Hobb Avenue in Babylon to April 30 for driveway and walkway repairs; extended 17 Maple Street in Wyandanch to December 18 to remove debris and tires; and extended 2450 Great Neck Road to December 30 to replace a stockade fence and clear debris. Several renewals, including 202 Eastwood Avenue in Deer Park, were approved with no additional conditions.
Board members often provided photographic evidence to applicants and encouraged owners to submit photos to rentalboard@townofbabylon.com to trigger interim inspections. Where possible, the board offered extensions rather than outright denials, while preserving code enforcement options if owners did not comply.
