The port proposed a master planning process to define redevelopment options, conduct market and community outreach, and create a path to design and construction. Staff outlined next steps: community outreach, market study and design phase; target timeline for construction funding and potential redevelopment around 2030–2031.
Board members asked about project impacts during construction, displacement of users and connections to workforce and apprenticeship programs; port staff said community outreach and business interviews will shape the least disruptive approach and that partners (Peninsula College, Sea Scouts, apprenticeship programs) are already engaged. A motion to approve the planning grant was moved and seconded and the board voted to award the $75,000 grant.
