The Joint Government Operations committee on Dec. 11 recommended a Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services rule packet that replaces outdated phone numbers in the department's public-records request rules.
Angela Jackson, assistant legislative director for the department, said the department is requesting the change through the proposed rule process because it is clerical and non-substantive and doing so "will ensure the public can reach the appropriate contact within the department when making public records request." Matthew Perriot, communications director, attended with Jackson and the presenters said the rule will go into effect Jan. 14.
Committee action: After no questions or public comment, committee members moved the packet by motion; the House approved the motion by voice vote and the Senate recorded five ayes. The chair said the item "moves out with positive recommendation" to be included in the omnibus bill.
Next steps: The updated phone numbers will take effect on the department's specified date once the omnibus adoption is complete.
