Fair Board approves replacement of Eaton Barn; rodeo improvements planned for next year

Kimber Solberg, the Fairgrounds director, told commissioners the Fair Board voted to replace the Eaton Barn and will consult the Historic Preservation Committee before finalizing design and budget.
"The Fair Board, voted to replace the Eaton Barn, so I'll be meeting with the Historic Preservation Committee to better explain what the goal and the process we're hoping will look like," Solberg said. She added the board approved purchasing livestock holding pins to match the show ring and is evaluating arena lighting and potential electrical work.
Solberg also said Hayden Heafy, president of the Wyo Rodeo Board, met with the Fair Board and the Wyo Rodeo was approved to install new bucking chutes and holding pins behind Arena 1, likely in May or June next year.
Commissioners asked whether the replacement would be another barn or something different; Solberg said the Historic Preservation Committee would weigh in and final decisions will depend on budget and preservation guidance. No formal funding appropriation or contract award was reported at the staff meeting.
