The Laramie County Board of County Commissioners approved a three‑month pilot agreement with c3.ai to test an automated tool for assessment review.
Dominic Davis, assistant director of county IT speaking on behalf of Assessor Todd Ernst, told the board the pilot will "compare all of our camera data, as well as property data and help with coming up with an automated way to help improve the assessment process" and that it will run alongside the county's current assessment pass for comparison. Davis said Google is covering $250,000 of the pilot cost as a proof of concept and that the county's cost will be $1. When commissioners asked whether there would be any commitment after three months, staff answered there would be no commitment.
Commissioners asked that the pilot operate in conjunction with the state‑mandated GRAMA process and that results be compared to the county's CAMA system. The board moved, seconded and approved the pilot by roll call.
