Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Lutekaus told commissioners the county received a grant from the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security to fund the project. Bids were solicited and three were returned; the engineer recommended the lowest bid from Apex Mechanical. Lutekaus said the low bid exceeded the grant by roughly $5,000 for the total project cost.
Commissioners confirmed the generator will power only the exhibit hall — the county’s primary emergency shelter and emergency command center during past incidents — and is intended to ensure the facility has power during outages. Commissioner Housewell moved to award the contract and the board approved the award and authorized the chairman to sign the contract documents.
The contract award was made conditional on the standard contract documents and engineer recommendation; commissioners did not specify how the $5,000 gap will be funded during the meeting.
