Sheridan County’s hazard mitigation plan is now regionally adopted and cleared by FEMA through 2029

Sheridan County’s regional hazard mitigation plan has been accepted by all participating jurisdictions and formally adopted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the county emergency management coordinator reported.
"The hazard mitigation plan has been fully adopted," Jesse said to commissioners, adding that FEMA’s signoff means the county’s plan remains in effect through November 2029. He noted some counties in the region took longer to complete adoption but confirmed the regional signoff is now complete.
Jesse also said he was selected to attend an operations section chief class in Maryland in January and requested the county’s formal approval for out-of-state travel; he said the federal government would cover training, travel and lodging costs and there would be no direct cost to the county beyond his time. "All that, the cost for that will be fully paid for by the federal government," Jesse said.
Commissioners acknowledged the update; no further action on the hazard mitigation plan was taken at the staff meeting because FEMA adoption had already occurred regionally.
