Nicollet County property and public services staff asked the board to set a public hearing for July 23 at 9:15 a.m. on a zoning‑map amendment requested by United Farmers Cooperative (UFC) for three parcels west of the cooperative’s existing grain processing facility in the unincorporated community (referred to in the packet as Claesner).
Staff described the rezoning request as a change from rural town site to a mix of limited industry and agricultural preservation to allow about two or three additional grain bins, a shed, a new office and a new access drive off the highway; the application is still in process and a conditional‑use permit may follow. Staff said neighbor notices were mailed (1.5‑mile radius) and notices published in the newspaper to meet state statute and local zoning ordinance requirements.
Commissioners asked whether the planned roundabout construction in the community might affect the rezoning; staff said that could be a consideration that will be explored at the planning commission meeting and at the board public hearing. The board voted to set the hearing date.
