The Nicollet County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution Nov. 26 ratifying the Brown Nicollet Community Health Board's distribution plan for the Elixir Building and related fund balance following Nicollet’s planned January 1, 2025 withdrawal from the joint powers agreement.
County administration told the board the BNCHB voted Sept. 27, 2024 to transfer Brown County’s payment of $400,000 to Nicollet County as full consideration for Nicollet’s one‑half ownership interest in the Elixir Building (located at 21100 Broadway Street North, Newell, Minnesota). The BNCHB also determined the Elixir Fund’s approximate total balance of $191,650 would be split equally, resulting in an estimated $95,827.50 for each county.
The resolution directs the Nicollet County administrator to take necessary actions to effect the transfers and authorizes acceptance of the stated sums. Commissioners noted the action follows multiple prior discussions and that Brown County was considering a similar resolution at its meeting.
