The Hampton City Council voted to convene a closed session, citing Virginia code, to discuss three matters: acquisition of real property for public purpose at Peninsula Town Center; consideration of investment of public funds in the LaSalle Corridor where bargaining is involved; and an appointment to the Virginia Air and Space Center board.
The clerk read the statutory motion on the record: "The motion required to convene your closed session today is pursuant to Virginia code section 2.2 dash 3711 a 3 for discussion of the acquisition of real property for public purpose at Peninsula Town Center, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the bargaining position or negotiation strategy of counsel, per 2 pursuant to section 2.2-3711(a)(6), for discussion or consideration of the investment of public funds in the LaSalle Corridor, where bargaining is involved, and pursuant to Virginia code section 2.2-3711(a)(1), to discuss an appointment to Virginia Air and Space Center board." The motion to convene closed session was moved by Councilwoman Mugler and seconded by Councilman Bowman.
The clerk called the roll on the motion and recorded 'Aye' votes from the council members present; the motion carried and the council planned to reconvene in the community development conference room to certify the closed session and adjourn. The council scheduled the closed session to convene at 1:50 p.m. in the community development conference room on the 5th floor.
