Quincy licensing panel approves 2025 renewals, hearing dates and one‑hour New Year’s Eve extension

The City of Quincy Board of Licensing Commissioners on Dec. 17 approved annual renewals for section 12 and section 15 license holders for 2025, adopted its 2025 hearing schedule and authorized a one‑hour extension of hours for on‑premises alcohol licensees on New Year’s Eve.

The board, convened by an official who read the open meeting law into the record, noted that two restaurants—Lapa Loma on Newport Ave and Grama Chow on Bale Street—are not renewing for 2025 because they closed during 2024. Following that announcement, a motion to approve the listed section 12 and section 15 license holders for 2025 was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.

Board members then approved the proposed 2025 license board hearing dates, which staff had previously emailed to commissioners. The board also discussed the state's happy hour regulations, noting that highlights and reminders are issued annually by the state's alcohol beverage control commission and are distributed to on‑premise licensees and posted on the city website.
