Public space maintenance: Councilor Greeno Sawaya asked the DPW to install trash barrels at several spots along Revere Street and to replace a severely dilapidated barrel at the Paul Revere School to improve waste management and safety.
Appointments and awards: The mayor transmitted appointments and reappointments to boards and commissions (Dora Hallett to the Conservation Commission; Hal Abrams and Megan Simons Hurling to the Planning Board; Dean Harris to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund Board). The council also awarded certificates of commendation to the Revere Youth Cheerleading U12 Team and coaching staff for a second-place finish at nationals.
Ordinance and procedural actions: Councilors also completed roll-call action to engross and ordain an ordinance amending metered rates; after a member asked for immediate reconsideration, the council suspended the rules and took up the motion per council procedure.
Next steps: DPW and the mayor's office were assigned follow-ups on the trash-barrel request and the MassDOT lighting repairs; finance staff will execute the cable-TV appropriation.
