Neighbors who spoke — including Lynette Buck Miller, Chester De Jong and Jesse Buckmuller — expressed opposition citing previous Planning Commission votes against rezoning, loss of a buffer zone, potential for commercial uses near single‑family homes, traffic and drainage concerns, and questions about why the planning recommendation differed from the applicant’s request. Several speakers asked the council to review prior hearings and commission deliberations.
Councilor McCorris asked staff to compile any new information that was not before the Planning Commission and requested that that baseline information be provided before the Jan. 7 hearing. The council voted to defer the item to Jan. 7, 2025.
