On Dec. 16 the Board of License Commissioners approved multiple license renewal slates—annual all-alcohol restaurant licenses, farmer's-series pouring permits (including Jack’s Abbey), common victualler licenses, Monday–Saturday entertainment licenses, coin-operated apparatus and lodging-house licenses.
Votes were taken by roll call and most slates passed unanimously. Commissioners praised Jack’s Abbey as a community business while noting a past denied permit for outdoor entertainment at one of its sites.
A substantive portion of the meeting focused on enforcement and monitoring for entertainment licenses, particularly Cafe Bello. Commissioners discussed whether to require a midterm check-in or rely on Lieutenant McCarthy and police to report incidents. The chair emphasized that licenses are annual but can be suspended or revoked should violations be reported; commissioners agreed that the licensing coordinator and police should follow up if incidents arise.
The board also approved the proposed 2025 meeting calendar with an amendment adding a Jan. 27 meeting and canceling a Jan. 13 meeting, and it approved draft minutes from Dec. 9, 2024. The meeting adjourned after unanimous votes.
