Framingham board approves restaurant name change amid questions about filings and signage
Summary
The board approved changing Tacos and More (Los Pollos Inc) to Miller’s Burgers, but commissioners pressed the owner for clarity about corporate filings, a possible prior Miller’s Burgers entity and recent sign work; approval carried 3–1–1 with conditions on departmental approvals and sign follow-up.

The Board of License Commissioners voted Dec. 16 to approve a request by Los Pollos Inc. to change the business name of its restaurant at 80 Waverly Street from Tacos and More to Miller’s Burgers after extended questioning about corporate records and signage.
Owner Jose Varela told the board he is the corporation’s president and that the change reflects a revised menu and concept. Commissioners pressed Varela on why the DBA and awning were changed before filing with the state Alcoholic Beverages Control procedures and why a corporate record for a similarly named entity (Miller's Burgers / Miller's Services) appeared in background materials. Commissioner Laura Medrano said she wanted a clear account of the corporate history; Commissioner McCullough raised concerns about a possible lease of the liquor license.
Varela said the Miller name is a chef he hired and denied any lease: “I'm the owner of the restaurant, and I'm the manager... We're just using Miller's Burger as a DBA.” Licensing coordinator Audra Shaw explained portions of the packet showing another corporation had dissolved and that the applicant now holds the Miller’s Burgers DBA under Los Pollos Inc.
After discussion the board approved the change-of-name motion conditioned on payment of taxes and fees and receipt of required departmental inspections and documents. The chair also directed the licensing coordinator to notify the sign department and asked the applicant to resolve outstanding business-entity documentation before issuance. The vote recorded three in favor, one against and one abstention.
