At a special meeting of the Rockcastle County Board of Education, members approved a contract modification for the Striving Readers KYC Round 1 program that extended the contract date, the board said.
Board members made and seconded a motion to adopt the modification, and the board approved it by voice vote. Doctor Ballinger confirmed the only substantive change to the document was the date extension.
The modification drew little debate. Matt, who spoke during the item, said the expense had been anticipated: "I was gonna say this was in the budget. We were expecting them to do this." The board did not identify additional funding sources beyond existing budget lines.
The change is intended to maintain continuity of the Striving Readers program under the KYC Round 1 arrangement; the board did not specify the new contract end date during the meeting. The board moved on to the next agenda item following the approval.
