At the Oct. 15 meeting the Rowan County School Board approved routine consent items and moved forward two policy and funding actions.
The consent agenda (items 3a–3d) was approved by voice vote after a motion and second. The board then held a second reading and approved Policy 02.421, a change to site-based council election procedures to align with KSBA and KAC recommendations by removing principals from the role of election leader and assigning the election process to a parent organization or group identified at each school.
Separately, the board voted to accept a state technology fund offer of assistance from the School Facilities Construction Commission in the amount of $33,248; the board approved accepting the award and equally matching the funds as required.
These items were adopted by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were read into the record.
