Fort Thomas board accepts resignation, creates vacancy with 60‑day window to fill

The Fort Thomas Independent Schools Board of Education accepted a resignation announced at its September meeting that creates a board vacancy the body must fill under state procedures.
The board member said they submitted a resignation effective Sept. 10, 2024 so they could apply to fill an earlier vacancy created by Anne Myers's resignation. If appointed, the member said they would serve the remainder of that open term through December 2026; the member also said they do not intend to seek re‑election beyond that time.
Board members voted to accept the resignation by voice vote. The board secretary noted the body has 60 days to appoint a replacement under the applicable vacancy rules; with a general election approaching, the board said it will consider options in the coming weeks.
Board members thanked the departing member for service and described transitional considerations as several other members rotate off and new members take office in January. The board did not set an appointment date at the meeting; staff said they will publish the vacancy and options for appointment consistent with statute and district policy.
