At a special meeting Oct. 29, 2020, the Estill County Board of Education voted to hire Codell as the construction management firm for the Estill County Middle School.
Mister Brock, speaking for district staff, told board members that two construction management firms had presented proposals last week and that staff had followed up with questions and references for both. "So it's gonna be my recommendation tonight that we hire Codell as our construction management," Brock said.
Board member Joe Crawford moved to hire Codell, and board member Tammy Hardy seconded. After brief remarks noting that both firms had given strong presentations and that the choice was difficult, the moderator called the question. The moderator announced, "The motion carries with a 5 o vote." The board did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript; the motion was announced as approved unanimously.
Brock added that the district may engage either firm on smaller upcoming projects and noted there remains unfinished work at Estill Springs. No contract terms, timeline, or next procedural steps were stated in the transcript.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Sheila Simples, seconded by Tammy Hardy; the moderator called for and received an affirmative voice vote and adjourned the meeting.
