The Estill County Board of Education on Dec. 19 approved a new district fiber lease, accepted the district’s June 30, 2024 financial audit and cleared a slate of routine action items, including a tentative MOU to pursue a GEAR UP grant and approval for a bass fishing team trip to Florida.
The board voted to approve the fiber contract after Superintendent Brock described the RFP process and said the lease totals more than $100,000 and must be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) for approval before the district pursues federal funding to connect buildings.
