Estill County board signs off on MOA, contracts and consent items

At its Nov. 21 meeting the Estill County Board of Education approved a set of routine but operationally important items including an interagency memorandum of agreement (MOA) with South Central Head Start, the district’s annual technology (Katz) offer for FY25, an occupational therapist services contract, and the consent agenda covering minutes and treasurer’s reports.
The superintendent recommended approval of the MOA with South Central Head Start, describing the current agreement as similar to the prior year’s arrangement and noting it does not require additional district staffing. Board member Sheila Samples moved approval and Tammy Hardy seconded; the board approved the MOA 4–0.
The board also approved the annual technology offer for FY25 and the occupational therapist contract by unanimous votes. Carrie Smallwood moved to approve the consent items (minutes, special called meetings related to engineering and construction management, the treasurer’s report and superintendent travel); Tammy Gorty seconded and the consent items were approved 4–0.
What this means: These approvals maintain existing partnerships and services for students (early childhood services and occupational therapy) and allow routine administrative operations to continue without interruption. No budget changes or additional staffing were announced at the meeting.
What to watch: Any substantive changes to the MOA or service contracts would return to the board for formal consideration and would be noted in future agendas.
