Legislative analyst Julianne Allen told the advisory committee on Sept. 11 that Assembly Bill 2148, a measure that would have allowed professional fiduciary corporations to register with the Professional Fiduciaries Bureau and included related fees, failed passage and is not moving forward this session.
Allen corrected a typo in the committee materials (the bill summary incorrectly stated the committee of failure) and clarified that the bill failed in the Senate Appropriations suspense file. She also reminded the committee of upcoming legislative dates: Sept. 30 is the last day for the governor to sign or veto bills that made it out of the Legislature; bills enacted by Oct. 2 would take effect Jan. 1, 2025.
The advisory committee had no further questions, and no further legislative action related to AB 2148 was taken at the meeting.
