Ward told the board he has 24 years of classroom experience and 27 years of coaching, and that he has begun meeting coaches and staff in advance of his official start: “I’ve met almost with every head coach,” he said, adding he was “super excited to be part of this school district.”
Director Ellis told the board two instructional assistants had withdrawn from summer assignments and that Treve Green and Alejandra Perez had agreed to step in. “They said, yes. I will come and work for the next 4 or 5 weeks,” Ellis said while explaining the late hires were added to the personnel order.
After the introductions and discussion the board moved to approve the personnel order and then the remainder of the consent agenda. The chair asked members to raise their hands in support; the motions passed unanimously.
The board did not take additional action beyond affirming the hires. Ward’s start date was characterized as in the coming weeks and the administration said it will continue onboarding work with coaches and staff.
What happens next: the administration will complete Ward’s onboarding and the newly approved summer staff will continue in their instructional roles for the summer program.
